J.R. Mats & AGCP “a good fit”

Posted in Uncategorized  by Jay McGrath

J.R. Mats is chosen as the Golf Mat sponsor for The Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP) .

The County Club Elite Real Feel Golf Mats will be exclusively used at this years AGCP 4th annual Round Table being held in October 14 – 18, 2009 in Columbus Georgia.

The event is open to all club fitters, club makers, PGA professionals,
other golf industry professionals, but not the general public. Advanced
techniques will be presented in workshops led by the top club-fitters in
the world.

Golf Mats have come a long way in recent years and are now being used at country clubs, golf schools, and driving ranges that never would have considered and artificial turf mat in the past.

“I wanted to let you know that I truly believe your new Country Club Elite Golf Mat is the best artificial surface on the market.  It really does eliminate the problems common with most mats – there is no bounce and the feel really is REAL. I was concerned about forcing members to hit off of mats since we have always had a natural grass practice range. But the response has been sooo good that some of my membership would prefer to hit off of the mats even when they don’t have too. Please feel free to use me as a reference, I have already recommended you and your product to a number of clubs.”

“It was my pleasure to meet you at this years PGA show. Thank you so much for your help with our custom MEGSA Mats and also introducing me to your new Country Club Elite Mats. As you know we run multiple golf academies and have been looking for an acceptable synthetic hitting turf option for years. I had given up hope until seeing your product. It provides a true feel with true results especially on a “fat-shot”. We plan on installing your product at two of our academies this year with more to come. Best wishes for your continued success.”

J.R. Mats, Inc.  introduced the Real Feel Country Club Elite Golf Mat at the 2006 PGA Show to rave reviews. It was the first Golf Mat that…

  • Takes a Real Tee
  • Provides True Divot Action
  • No Bounce
  • Lets You swing Down-and-Through

The secret to the golf mat’s real feel is the long-dense-fiber-system.  The tall turf allows the golf club to flow freely though the golf mat on a properly hit shot, but gives instant feedback on a “fat shot”.

Old style range mats would let the club bounce or slide into the ball producing false result, or worse yet be a traumatic experience causing injury to the wrist or elbow.  The long-dense-fiber-system solves this problem and on a “fat” shot slows the club down and absorbs and dissipated the blow much like a true fairway would.

A Good Fit with The Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals

Clubfitting is typically performed indoors in a studio or workshop demanding the most realistic hitting surface available to properly fit a golfer.  J.R. Mats president Jay McGrath had this to say,  “ I’m proud to be associated with the AGCP.  We are a good fit – the attention to detail and quality are characteristics that run through both organizations.”

J.R. Mats & AGCP “a good fit”

Tiger Wins the FedEx Cup title and a $10 million “bonus”, as Lefty wins the Tour Championship with a final-round 65.

I even missed some of the EAGLES game to root for my home town guy – Sean O’Hair. It was close all day and came down to the last few holes.

I’m always looking for things to work on while I watch and found plenty today.

- I’m going to work on my sand shots for one.  These guys hit it better out of the sand that out of the rough and almost as good as chipping off of the fairway.

- I’m going to work on hitting greens. Next to putting this is the easiest way to improve your score. I don’t know that I’ll be hitting greens from 200-plus like the pros, but I don’t think 160 is too much to ask for.

—- I read a stat last week that said amature golfers only hit greens in regulation 15 percent of the time.  With 4 out of 18 being 22 percent that’s not saying much.

*** My tip of the day is to start tracking your game ***

Get your self an extra score card and chart
1) Drives in the fairway
2) Greens in regulation
3) putts

I started this year and it’s really pointed to areas of my game that need work.

Good golfing – Jay
