Watch and Learn
After viewing the events of the Masters from last week, it is important to take a few things away that could help out your game. The first of these is learning to understand how your mid and short-range games are more essential than your driving. Plenty a time players were able to recoup from a poor tee shot in order to salvage par or settle for a bogey, and this was because of the ability of players, like Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood, to take out the wedges, irons, and putters and gut out what they needed to keep a clean score card.
On the other end of the spectrum this weekend were those players who struggled reading the greens, or hitting the greens at proper locations. A great example of this was Tiger Woods. Tiger proved unable to chip with proper speed on a number of occasions, and he also three putted once. This type of game will hurt any player, including the world’s best. It is great to see how all of the players deal with adversity they face on the course, and this past weekend was no anomaly. Players had to deal with poor shots, off the course issues, and incredibly difficult greens. By watching the best, hopefully you took something away that will help you.
